What Is Isn't

At the time of Larry's passing in 2021, he was working closely with poet and colleague Steve Gerson on a series of collaborations between the two. Larry created his art and sent images to Steve. Then, Steve reacted/responded/engaged in an Ekphrastic manner, the two art forms synthesizing: Larry’s art melded with Steve’s haiku. All of the images in the book were either derived from glimpses, many of which had already been shown in exhibitions but gain a new life with Gerson's words linked to them.

As Larry's final project was left unfinished, his son Collin took over his father's side of the project and set out to finish it. This culminated in a paperback book titled What Is Isn't: A Dialogue Between Art And Poetry. The book combines over 70 of Larry's collages along with the matching Haikus by Steve.

From the introduction: "Larry and Steve hope the readers participate in their conversation, bringing to the art and poems their own experiences, adding new layers and interpretations to the collages."

Below you will find some examples from the book and the link to purchase it.
